Roll Technology
The forged roll characteristics that
determine roll performance (microstructure, depth of hardness and
residual stress) are achieved by the proper combination of roll
chemistry and heat treatment. The full coil static induction hardening
method that is unique to Union Electric Steel Corporation optimizes
these critical roll attributes. Cryogenic treatment of the "as
quenched" roll is utilized for roll applications that require a
constant microstructure and hardness profile from new to discard
diameter.
