In August of 1999, Union Electric
Steel purchased The Davy Roll Company. Based in England, The
Davy Roll Company is a recognized leader in the cast roll
market.
Union Electric
Steel Corporation, together with The Davy Roll Company, are
synonymous with Excellence in Forged and Cast Roll Technology.
Together the two companies produce 55,000 metric tons of rolls
annually, making it one of the world’s largest roll producers.
In May 2007,
Union Electric Steel consummated a Joint Venture contract with
Maanshan Iron & Steel Company, Limited, one of China’s largest steel
companies. The Joint Venture will manufacture up to 10,000 metric
tons annually of forged hardened steel back-up rolls, larger in size
and weight than Union Electric Steel can currently produce. It will
be early in 2010 when production is expected to commence. Union
Electric Steel will have exclusive marketing and sales rights
throughout the world and has a forty-nine percent interest in the
Joint Venture. |
