Union Electric Steel (UES) is a fully integrated roll manufacturer and recognized as one of the world’s leading producers of forged hardened steel, cast iron, and cast steel rolls. Headquartered in Carnegie, PA, UES is one of the largest producers of rolls for the ferrous and non-ferrous rolling industries in the world, with a total capacity exceeding 60,000 tons annually.

Union Electric Steel USA was founded in 1923 and since 1930, has dedicated all efforts to forged roll production and technologies. This product specialization has made Union Electric Steel a recognized global leader in the roll industry.

Our forged rolls are produced in three manufacturing facilities in Pennsylvania and one in Indiana. UES cast rolls are manufactured at Union Electric Steel UK Limited, located in Gateshead, England. This facility was originally the Davy Roll Company, supplying cast rolls products for more than 150 years. In 1999, UES purchased the company, changed the name to Union Electric Steel UK Limited and continued the legacy of producing high-quality cast rolls for hot and cold strip mills, medium-to-heavy section mills and plate mills.

Our research and development efforts have provided UES customers with quality products that meet or exceed expectations with superior performance in service. Development of exclusive chemistries and heat treatment combinations has provided new products with increased value for the ferrous and non-ferrous industries.

Our equipment and facilities are continually being developed and upgraded. Our equipment is the best the industry has to offer. Major plant expansions were completed in 2010 and 2011. The Harmon Creek plant added a 5,000-ton open-die hydraulic forge press, an 80 metric ton manipulator and additional roughing lathes. The Carnegie plant installed a state-of-the-art 5-axis Multi-Task Finish Machining Center, Horizontal Universal Boring and Milling Machine, and a new Herkules roll grinder. Our UES UK facility recently commissioned a 75 Metric Ton Induction Melting System and an Advanced Roll Materials Heat Treatment Center.
